I apologize for the lack of updates to this site and other forums I have been active on. There have been many events that have called for my attention and I was hesitant to post anything until I knew for certain what was going on.
The owner and the owner’s agent have expressed their desire to cancel the deal we had come to agreement on concerning the sale of the Big Dipper. Harold and I are working together on this project. Our interest at this point is in saving the Big Dipper from the previously announced demolition by the parties that purchased the coaster from the Cedar Fair auction. We are currently under experienced legal guidance so that we may do everything within our power to save an important piece of amusement history.
I sincerely hope for everyone’s understanding as we work through the new challenges we are faced with. Harold and I are completely dedicated to this project and are determined to see this through to the end, which we see as the successful restoration of the Big Dipper to operational status.
Thank you for your efforts and for keeping us up to date. I am very sorry to hear of this news but I have faith that whatever the outcome your efforts are worthwhile and will at very least help to keep the Dipper around for future generations to enjoy – no matter who the future owner is. And that’s the best that we can all hope for!

Parma, Oh
Wait…I’m a little confused. Weren’t you the new owner of the Big Dipper? Who is the ‘owner’ and his agent you’re referring to here? :/ Would be great if you could clear that up.
Hello,
I donated to your project.
After I made this donation, I never received any sort of thank you or confirmation from you. Since then, there has been little to no communication at all from you or anyone in your group on the status of your project.
Do you expect people to donate and help your cause when you do not communicate with your investors? I would like to know how my contribution will be used and some solid, detailed plans as opposed to the vague statements made once every few months. My contribution was relatively minor and yet I feel like I have been “taken for a ride”, so to speak. If the sale falls through, are you going to reimburse those who made contributions? What are the steps being taken to ensure your project’s success? Open ended statements aren’t cutting it.
Contributor – I edited out some of the personal information in your post but I did see and read it. Please be aware that I cannot discuss any ongoing legal matters at this time. The lack of updates has been due to this need for privacy. I will be keeping this site updated whenever I have information that I am able to release. I can however assure you that all donations that have been made will only be used in the direct cause of preservation of the Dipper. No donation money is being used towards legal matters.
To quote this website:
“After two weeks of negotiations, a sale was finalized on September 30, 2010 and Harold Garmonsway and Kat Jones were named the new owners of the coaster.”
And now you’re telling us that the old owner still owns the coaster?
You told us you own the coaster, and now you’re telling us that you never really did?
Really?
Any updates? It has been over sa month.
